Sarsfields supporters attending the Armagh v Down match were pleasantly surprised to see the introduction of Michael Stevenson in a change to the starting line-up. Of course the Highmoss people were keen to see one of their own play well in the county colours. Michael got off to a great start, settling the nerves with two nice frees. Two long range frees from Michael just before half time kept Armagh in the game. The highlight however was a pressure free kick in injury time where Michael held his nerve to win the game for Armagh, bringing his tally to six points. This was a superb debut, and for Michael having gone to school in Newry this victory will have had much more meaning. Interviewed on Setanta, Michael paid an emotional tribute to Kieran McGurk and certainly Kieran had a great influence on his squad of players. Well done Michael.
