Sarsfields 4-13 St. Peter's 0-04
Surprisingly this was a fairly one sided game given that it was a tight match when these teams played in the league stages. Early on the teams were fairly well matched, but good Highmoss defensive work denied the attacking potential of St. Peter's. A Michael Stevenson goal midway through the half opened up a gap between the sides and Sarsfields pushed forward from there. The final two scores of the half were goals from Colin Stevenson and Niall Kerr and at 3-08 to 0-03 there really was no way back for the Lurgan men.
St. Peter's pushed forward in the second but reaped little reward for their pressure. Highmoss keeper denied three certain goal chances from Niall McConville and Michael Stevenson had the last say with a goal after the Peter's keeper saved a shot from Colin Stevenson.
It was a good team performance and it was encouraging to see good performances from Sarsfields' younger players such as Gareth McGeown, Mark McConville, Caolan Skelton and Niall Kerr. Also it was good to see Chris McGaughey home from the U.S.A. and back in a Hoops jersey.
