Sarsfields 1-10 Whitecross 1-12
Sarsfields suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Whitecross. In atrocious wet conditions little separated the sides early on. Sarsfields' case wasn't helped when Brian Lavery went off injured. Both sides though saved their best football for the final five minutes of the first half. Sarsfields pushed into a three point lead with a Mark Reynolds goal and points from Johnny Reynolds and Paul Hughes. However Whitecross scored five points in the remaining five minutes of play to lead at the break.
The visitors made it 1-07 without reply when they added a goal and two points early in the second half. The goal was particularly unfortunate and one which the Highmoss keeper would not wish to see on a replay. To Sarsfields credit they clawed their way back into the game and reduced the deficit to a single point. A series of wides in the closing stages were to prove very costly for Sarsfields.
