Yet Another Second Half Sarsfields Comeback

Pearse Óg 0-10 Sarsfields 1-11
A safe pair of hands
Sarsfields seem to be specialising in second half comebacks this season. In this match against Pearse Óg it was hardly surprising, given that Sarsfields were playing into a very strong wind in the first half. Highmoss were finding that they were getting little reward out of some fairly hard work, whereas the Óg's could find the ball at their end with a couple of kicks. Fortunately the gap was only six points at half time, though Sarsfields had only split the post twice through Thomas McAlinden and Declan Breen.
The second half was a different matter with Michael Stevenson sending over five points and Richie hitting the net, after Eamon McGeown found him with a great ball. The midfield pairing of Eimeíd Murray and Brian Lavery played exceptionally well and Mark Reynolds collected a lot of loose ball. Wind advantage is all very well but first you need possession. The Óg's briefly rallied after Sarsfields edged ahead, but a super save by Neil McCann ensured that Sarsfields would get the points and that he could be satisfied with a good performance between the posts. Also Ruairi McKernan came on in defence and made a couple of excellent interceptions.
